History of the Building

In 1968, the library was one of the first buildings to open on the Waltham campus when Bentley moved here from its downtown Boston location. Since then, the library and its majestic clock tower - now the focal point of the Bentley logo - have served as the distinctive centerpiece of the University's beautiful upper campus.

Over the past several years, it became increasingly apparent that this once-wonderful building needed a dramatic transformation. In 2003, plans began for the exciting $16 million renovation project and following commencement of 2005, the library closed its doors for massive renovations.

On March 21, 2006, the Bentley Library re-opened its doors once again to offer a state-of-the art facility providing the space and resources appropriate for research, quiet study and group collaboration.

Today, the building is now also home to the Café, Computing Services, English for Speakers of Other Languages Center (ESOL), Caturano and Company Art Gallery, and Writing Center. Outfitted with seating for 697, 120 computer workstations, 24 group study rooms and wireless network access throughout the building, the Bentley Library is truly the hub of the academic campus!
