Executive Director of Academic Technology, the Library, and Online Learning |
Dr. Knutel is Executive Director of Academic Technology, the Library, and Online Learning. He provides strategic direction regarding the use of technology in the curriculum and the research services available to faculty and students. From 1998-2002, he was Director of Academic Technology at Bentley and managed 11 staff at the Academic Technology Center. In October, 2002, he was promoted to his current role, which added responsibility for Bentley's library and research services. Dr. Knutel was Project Director of the Bentley Technology Adoption Initiative, a program that helped faculty integrate technology into the curriculum which received $275,000 in external funding. He received his Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Michigan, holds an Ed.M. from Harvard, and a B.S. magna cum laude from Vanderbilt. His 1998 dissertation focused on how and why faculty use computer and internet technology in their teaching. Before coming to Bentley, he was Director of Academic Technology at the University of Michigan Office of Academic Outreach. A member of EDUCAUSE and the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), Dr. Knutel has published several articles and is a regular presenter at a variety of EDUCAUSE and online learning conferences. |

Margarita Alicea-Saez is Manager of Operations for Academic Technology, the Library, and Online Learning. She provides ongoing operational and budgetary support, as well as project management expertise for the various initiatives at the ATC, library, and in Bentley's hybrid online learning programs. She works extensively in managing vendor relationships as well as with staff from a variety of Bentley's administrative departments, including Purchasing, the Budget Office, System, Networks, and Telecommunications, Client Services, and Facilities.<br /> Margarita has more than 25 years of administrative experience in higher education, non-profit, and corporate settings. Prior to joining Bentley in 2009, she worked at Northeastern University and Framingham State College. She is a Board Member at the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce Women's Initiative, and a Steering Committee and Alumni Association Member at the Leadership Metrowest Academy. She holds an M.Ed. from Cambridge College, and is fluent in Spanish. |

Ami is a Special Projects Librarian, focusing on projects such as digitizing and promoting the Bentley University archives collection as well as identifying and managing new digital and online initiatives that improve and enhance library services. She received her MLS, with a focus on Digital Libraries, from Drexel University in June 2008. Ami attended Indiana University Northwest on a full scholarship, and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in English Literature. | |

Along with a team of 5 staff members and 30 students she supervises the daily operation of Circulation, Reserves, Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan and the stack maintenance of the library's collections. Cathy joined Bentley University in 1989 and held two other positions in the Circulation Department before becoming Manager in 1998. |

Erica Brown is the Evening Circulation Supervisor. She oversees the evening and weekend use of the Library Circulation services, including the Reserves and Interlibrary Loan areas. Her responsibilities include supervising and training students, assisting in Reserves processing and Interlibrary loans, and acting as the backup in the absence of the Assistant Manager or the Interlibrary Loan Supervisor. Erica has several years of experience as an evening supervisor, having worked both at Bentley's Library and Babson's Library for a number of years. She holds a Bachelors of Accountancy, which she received from Bentley's evening program. | ||

Amy Galante has served as the Bentley University Interlibrary Loan Supervisor since the summer of 2006. Prior to her arrival at Bentley, she worked as an Interlibrary Loan Assistant at Tufts University’s Tisch Library. Amy earned her B.A. in Humanities, with a focus on Creative Non-Fiction and a minor in Arts Journalism, from Bradford College. While studying at Bradford, she spent four years as a student supervisor in the Circulation Department the Hemingway Library. | |

Hope is the Manager of Reference Services. Her responsibilities include the coordination of library reference services, the development of policies and procedures related to reference services, personal assistance to individuals seeking information, teaching library instruction classes, coordinating the reference collection and serving as a liaison to faculty. Before coming to Bentley in 2008, Hope was Library Program Specialist with the Rhode Island Office of Library & Information Services where she coordinated research services to graduate library school students, professional librarians, state employees, and blind and physically handicapped residents of the state. As a member of the Rhode Island Library Futures Group, Hope worked in cooperation with other librarians, educators, and legislators to develop a plan for the implementation of access to statewide licensed databases. Prior to that she was Manager of Reference Services and Coordinator of Library Instruction at Johnson & Wales University. Hope holds a BA in English and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island. | |

She is Faculty Liaison for the Modern Languages department and the Gender Studies program, and selects books and other materials in these disciplines for the library’s collection. Macee holds a B.S. in Secondary Education with a concentration in English from the University of Maine at Farmington and an MLS from Simmons College. Before coming to Bentley, she worked in the MIT Libraries and at Brandeis University. |

As a Reference Librarian, Liz provides research assistance to students, faculty, and staff, both on a one-on-one basis and by teaching classes on how to most effectively use the library’s resources. As Coordinator of User Education, she is responsible for scheduling all library instruction sessions in the Research Instruction Center (RIC), and is available to work with faculty to incorporate research skills and information literacy into their courses. Liz acts as liaison to the English department, and is responsible for developing library collections in literature and arts and media. Before coming to Bentley in 2008, Liz worked in academic and special libraries in Illinois, Indiana, and Massachusetts. She has a B.A. in English from Amherst College and an M.S. in Library Science from Simmons College. |

She offers individual appointments for guidance in developing search strategies and information gathering techniques. Additionally, she manages the library's Popular Reading Collection and Book Buzz Blog.

Stephen is the Reference Librarian for Electronic Resources at the Bentley Library. His duties include selecting Internet resources, databases and information services for use by members of the Bentley Communitys. He maintains the Library webpage. He also provides bibliographic instruction via Library classes, the Reference Desk and by appointment. He acts as librarian liaison for International Studies, Information Design and Corporate Communication, Computer Information Systems, and Information and Process Management, and is responsible for developing the careers collection at the library. Prior to coming to Bentley he was a research assistant at the Florida Design Initiative, at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Tallahassee, FL, and then the Coordinator of Library Services at Roxbury Community College, Roxbury, MA. He holds a B.A. in History and a M.S. in Information Studies from Florida State University. |
